Natalie Portman Movies

As I write this article, Natalie Portman is only days away from what should be her first Oscar win. Nominated for Best Actress for her performance in Black Swan, everyone seems to agree that she’s a surefire lock to take home the industry’s highest honor.

But Portman, while still young, is no newcomer to the business. She’s been plugging away for over 16 years, playing everything from spirited daughters to emotionally conflicted strippers. And while her beauty is quite evident, there’s also a brain lurking beneath those good looks. In 2003, she graduated from Harvard University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology.

The following list contains the 10 best Natalie Portman movies so far, at least in my opinion. In the case of those movies where she has a limited role, the quality of the motion picture also factored into the equation. If you disagree with my choices, feel free to voice your opinion in our comments section (just keep it civil).

You’ll notice that none of the Star Wars films are included. While this might enrage some fanboys, their exclusion was a deliberate choice on my part. They’re embarrassingly bad movies, filled with hackneyed dialogue and racially offensive stereotypes. While Portman does her best with the role of Padme Amidala, it’s hard to overcome wooden co-star Hayden Christensen and the mind-numbing presence of Jar Jar Binks.

The Professional (1994) – Also known as Leon, this Luc Besson thriller stars Jean Reno as a lonely hitman who carries out assignments in the New York City area. But his daily routine of watching Gene Kelly movies and watering his plant is disrupted when the family of neighbor Mathilda Lando (Natalie Portman in her feature debut) gets massacred by a gang of crooked DEA agents (led by the manic Gary Oldman). After giving her shelter, Leon is soon talked into showing her the tricks of his trade so she can gain revenge. While the relationship between the 12-year-old Mathilda and the grown Leon may make more sensitive viewers uncomfortable, The Professional remains a stylish flick awash in blood, anguish, and friendship.

Heat (1995) – While LAPD homicide detective Lt. Vincent Hanna (Al Pacino) plays a cat-and-mouse game with professional thief Neil McCauley (Robert De Niro), his step-daughter (Portman) suffers through a number of personal problems. But this family matter is just scenery, as the main focus of the film is on the impending collision between the cops and a well-disciplined and well-armed gang of robbers. When that confrontation finally occurs, be prepared for one of the greatest shootouts in cinematic history, courtesy of director Michael Mann. The excellent supporting cast includes Val Kilmer, Ashley Judd, Jon Voight, Tom Sizemore, Amy Brenneman, and Mykelti Williamson.

Anywhere but Here (1999) – Portman received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Ann August, a teenager who moves with her mother, Adele (Susan Sarandon), from a small Wisconsin town to the prestigious neighborhoods of Beverly Hills. While Ann wants nothing more than to attend college, Adele dreams of her daughter becoming an actress. This, as well as Adele’s habit of living beyond her means, leads to a number of conflicts between the August women and plenty of chances for well-acted scenes. Based on the novel by Mona Simpson.

Where the Heart Is (2000) – Based on the novel by Billie Letts, this over-the-top tale of a young girl’s maturation allows a strong female cast to show off their abilities. Chief among them is Natalie Portman as Novalee Nation, a pregnant teen who’s abandoned at an Oklahoma Wal-Mart by her boyfriend. With no money and no friends, she crashes at the store, eventually delivers the baby, and becomes a celebrity in the process. She also meets a number of friends along the way, including an abused nurse (Ashley Judd), a kind-hearted woman named Sister Husband (Stockard Channing), and a library worker (James Frain) who’s caring for his alcoholic sister. With characters named Brownie, Praline, and Americus, Where the Heart Is seems to be stretching at times, but Portman’s strong performance more than makes up for Letts’ eccentric Southern stereotypes.

Closer (2004) – Portman and Clive Owen received Oscar nominations for their part in this film about four good-looking people engaged in deception, lust, and occasional moments of love. Portman plays an American stripper who moves to London in an attempt to start over, but she becomes engaged in a number of ill-fated relationships during her stay. Jude Law and Julie Roberts round out the appealing cast, and this Mike Nichols film remains an option well-suited for adults seeking a challenging commentary on relationships. Plus, guys obsessed with Natalie Portman get to see her dance on a pole.

Garden State (2004) – Zach Braff wrote, starred, and made his directorial debut in this critically-acclaimed film which also captured a Grammy for its use of everything from The Shins to Simon & Garfunkel. Braff is Andrew Largeman, a struggling actor who returns home to New Jersey following the death of his mother. He reunites with a childhood friend who’s now a thieving gravedigger (Peter Sarsgaard) and falls for a pretty epileptic who also turns out to be a compulsive liar (Portman). Meanwhile, the layers of Andrew’s loneliness are peeled back, revealing an emotionally fragile individual who’s been overmedicating for years thanks to his psychiatrist father (Ian Holm). Love amidst the twenty-something set has never seemed more painful…or poignant.

V for Vendetta (2006) – Portman made the news when she shaved her head for the role of Evey Hammond, a young woman who falls in with a masked revolutionary named “V” (Hugo Weaving). Permanently disfigured and possessing amazing physical abilities, V intends to rally the citizens of Britain together in order to overthrow the fascist government which rules through fear and misinformation. He’s also looking to avenge a past wrong, methodically killing anyone who was involved. Evey, meanwhile, is forced to abandon her life of relative comfort and experience the hell of captivity and torture. James McTeigue directs with plenty of visual flair, and the emotional performances from Portman and Weaving (not to mention Stephen Rea, John Hurt, and Stephen Fry) help make V for Vendetta a worthy adaptation of Alan Moore’s graphic novel.

The Darjeeling Limited (2007) – Fans of Wes Anderson will be pleased by this soul-searching tale of three estranged brothers (Adrien Brody, Jason Schwartzman, and Owen Wilson) who come together and travel across India via train to reunite with their mother. There are the expected emotional entanglements, of course, as each man must come to terms with various personal problems. Portman only has a small role, appearing as one of the character’s ex-girlfriends, but the overall quality of the film warrants an inclusion on this list.

Brothers (2009) – While the plot of Brothers is interesting enough on its own, the performances from the three leads are what really propel it to the next level. Sam Cahill (Tobey Maguire in an Oscar-nominated role) is a loving husband and father of two young girls; He’s also a Marine about to head off to Afghanistan. When he’s believed to have died in a helicopter crash, his wife (Natalie Portman) and his ex-con brother (Jake Gyllenhaal) bond over their shared grief. But Sam is still alive, and the events he endured while in captivity transform him into an empty shell filled with rage and paranoia. A heartbreaking tale of the complexities of love and the horrors of war.

Black Swan (2010) – Of all the Natalie Portman movies, this one was tailor-made for an Oscar win. The subject of our article stars as Nina Sayers, a ballerina driven to the breaking point by her desire to succeed and please those around her. Chosen to play the lead role in a performance of Swan Lake, Nina must contend with an ambitious understudy (Mila Kunis), a controlling mother (Barbara Hershey), and an amorous director (Vincent Cassel). As she succumbs to hallucinations and a growing sense of paranoia, this Darren Aronofsky film provides a spellbinding look at mental illness and the price paid for artistic success. Open to numerous interpretations, Black Swan will have viewers discussing its true meaning for years to come.

Expect many more Natalie Portman movies in the coming years, as the talented and lovely actress is just 29-years-old as of this writing. All the films listed above can be found at your local video store, or you can just become a member of Netflix and have them delivered right to your door. We do receive a small commission if you choose the latter option, but that doesn’t add one extra penny to your final cost.

While the number of Kathryn Bigelow movies wouldn’t qualify as prolific (8 films in 27 years), the content would certainly be regarded as unique and brimming with artistic merit. It’s only fitting, then, that she would become the first female to win an Academy Award for Best Director, even managing to beat out ex-husband James Cameron in the process. And while The Hurt Locker was certainly a fine film, it’s hardly the first quality motion picture she‘s made. In the following list, I’ve included every movie helmed by Bigelow to this point, although many others are sure to follow.

In addition to being a director and screenwriter, Bigelow has also taught art, modeled, and even done a bit of acting. Fans of television can see her directorial work on shows such as Karen Sisco, Homicide: Life on the Street, and Wild Palms. Truly a multi-talented woman, she’s also incredibly foxy for a woman approaching 60 years of age.

To enjoy all these Kathryn Bigelow movies, be sure to become a Netflix subscriber

The Loveless (1982) – The list of Kathryn Bigelow movies begins with The Loveless, a film she co-directed with Monty Montgomery. A retelling of Brando’s The Wild One, it concerns a group of outlaw bikers who roll into a small town in the southern United States and cause trouble. Willem Dafoe has the starring role (his first), and rockabilly artist Robert Gordon also makes an appearance.

Near Dark (1987) – For her sophomore effort (which she also co-wrote with Eric Red), Bigelow received a nomination from the Saturn Awards for Best Direction. Melding the Western genre with vampire movies, Near Dark tells the story of a small-town Oklahoma cowboy (Adrian Pasdar) who falls for a mysterious female drifter (Jenny Wright). Bitten by the lovely lady, our hero soon finds his skin boiling with the rising of the sun, and that’s when he learns her secret: she’s a vampire. Adopted into her patchwork family of immortals (which includes Lance Henriksen as the leader and Bill Paxton as a psychotic bloodsucker), he’s given one week to show that he’s got what it takes to lead the lifestyle of the undead. Jenette Goldstein co-stars as another member of the “family,” and Tim Thomerson is the hero’s concerned father. The film failed to generate much buzz upon its initial release, but it went on to gain a respectable cult following thanks to the home video market.

Kathryn Bigelow has proved that going to some expensive film school isn’t a requirement for success in Hollywood. If you’re looking for an affordable and educational alternative, be sure to give the Online Film School a try. It’s endorsed by everyone from Quentin Tarantino to Will Smith.

Blue Steel (1989) – Once again teaming with Eric Red for the screenplay, Kathryn Bigelow helmed this action thriller about Megan Turner, a rookie cop (the lovely Jamie Lee Curtis) who runs afoul of Eugene Hunt (Ron Silver), a psychotic commodities trader, while stopping an armed robber (Tom Sizemore) at a grocery store. Hunt steals the dead man’s gun, leading the police to think that Megan shot an unarmed suspect. As she struggles to prove her innocence and keep her job, Hunt begins to stalk her and pursue a romantic relationship. Co-starring Clancy Brown, Elizabeth Pena, and the Oscar-winning Louise Fletcher.

Point Break (1991) – Of all the Kathryn Bigelow movies, this one has generated the biggest box-office totals and the most passionate cult following. Keanu Reeves stars as Johnny Utah, a former college quarterback and current FBI agent who’s investigating a series of bank robberies with his washed-up partner (Gary Busey). The men he’s trailing are known as the Ex-Presidents, because they disguise themselves with masks of Presidents Regan, Carter, Nixon, and Johnson. Following the theory that the robbers are actually surfers, Utah goes undercover and soon infiltrates the clique of a philosophical surfer named Bodhi (Patrick Swayze). But as he gets closer to discovering the identities of the Ex-Presidents, Utah finds himself drawn to the Zen-like qualities of Bodhi and the hot lovin’ of surfer gal Tyler Endicott (Lori Petty). Anthony Kiedis of the Red Hot Chili Peppers has a cameo, and the whole film is filled with enjoyable, over-the-top action.

Strange Days (1995) – Working from a screenplay co-written by ex-husband James Cameron, Bigelow turned out a cyberpunk classic that bombed at the box office but has since gained a sizable cult following. Set in a volatile Los Angeles on the eve of the new millennium, Strange Days focuses on Lenny Nero (Ralph Fiennes), a former police detective who now makes a living selling “SQUID” recordings. These high-tech discs allow experiences to be downloaded from the cerebral cortex of one person and then uploaded into another individual. But when Lenny begins receiving SQUID recordings of brutal murders, it touches off a chain of events that involve Lenny’s ex-girlfriend (Juliette Lewis), his hardbody bodyguard (Angela Bassett), a private investigator (Tom Sizemore), a bigshot in the music biz (Michael Wincott), and a pair of crooked cops (William Fichtner and Vincent D’Onofrio). Bassett’s performance was hailed by critics, and Bigelow would pick up a Saturn Award for her directorial efforts.

The Weight of Water (2000) – Based on the novel by Anita Shreve, The Weight of Water stars Catherine McCormack as Jean Janes, a newspaper reporter writing a piece on the axe murder of two women in 1873. As this tragic story is told through flashbacks, Jean must also deal with suspicions that her husband (Sean Penn) is cheating on her in the present. This generation-spanning thriller co-stars Elizabeth Hurley, Josh Lucas, and Sarah Polley.

K-19: The Widowmaker (2002) – Besides directing, Bigelow also added a producer’s title to her resume with this film starring Harrison Ford as the commander of the Russian fleet’s first nuclear submarine. Heading to sea for her maiden voyage, the K-19 is immediately plagued by problems, and things only get worse as time goes by. A tense, claustrophobic tale of courage and sacrifice, the film co-stars Liam Neeson, Joss Ackland, and Peter Sarsgaard. One of the most expensive independent movies ever made, it wound up being a massive disappointment at the box office.

The Hurt Locker (2009) – Bigelow hit the critical mother lode with this film about an American bomb disposal team serving during the Iraq War. Nominated for nine Academy Awards, it would win six Oscars (including Best Picture and Best Director, the first-ever for a female). Jeremy Renner is magnificent as Sergeant First Class William James, a top-notch bomb expert whose time in the military has left him emotionally incapable of doing anything else. Co-starring Anthony Mackie, Ralph Fiennes, Guy Pearce, David Morse, Evangeline Lilly, and Brian Geraghty. If you enjoy modern war movies, you’ll definitely want to add this one to your list of must-see films.

Beyonce Knowles Movies

If you’re looking for some Beyonce Knowles movies, then you’ve come to the right place. All of her feature films are listed below.

Austin Powers in Goldmember (2002) – In order to stop the mad–yet somewhat comical–schemes of Dr. Evil and Goldmember–British spy Austin Powers (Mike Myers) must travel back in time to 1975. There, he teams up with Foxxy Cleopatra (Beyonce), a former lover and FBI agent. Together, they face Fat Bastard, Mini-Me, and a pair of sharks with lasers on their heads.

The Fighting Temptations (2003) – An ad exec (Cuba Gooding Jr.) with a habit of lying tries to get a church choir together so they can perform in a gospel competition. Along the way he meets Lilly (Beyonce), a girl he had a crush on as a boy. She’s all grown up now, working as a lounge singer and raising her young son alone. Care to guess where all this is headed?

Fade to Black (2004) – Beyonce plays herself in the documentary about future husband Jay-Z and his supposed “retirement” concert at Madison Square Garden.

The Pink Panther (2006) – Bumbling French detective Jacques Clouseau (Steve Martin) is assigned to find out who killed a French soccer coach and stole a legendary diamond known as “The Pink Panther.” Beyonce co-stars as Xania, a successful American entertainer who dated the dead man and remains a prime suspect.

Dreamgirls (2006) – Based loosely on some of the real-life events of Motown’s history, this musical follows the career of a girl group known as The Dreams. Beyonce received a Gold Globe nomination for her role as Deena Jones, a character based on Diana Ross.

Cadillac Records (2008) – Telling the story of Chess Records from the 1940s to the 1960s, the film stars Adrien Brody as co-founder Leonard Chess. Beyonce co-stars as four-time Grammy winner, and R&B legend, Etta James.

Obsessed (2009) – When a crazy white woman (Ali Larter) tries to steal her man, Sharon Charles (Beyonce) is forced to fight to save her family. The catfight between the two beauties is reason enough to see the film.

Sexy Halloween costumes are useless most of the year, but they’re a great way to stand out when Samhain rolls around. Most people just dig around in their closet and patch something together, but the following movie Halloween costumes will show off your love of cinema and sense of style. Of course, it wouldn’t hurt to look like one of the young ladies modeling the outfits, either.

This list of sexy Halloween costumes is dedicated to the female gender, but be sure to stay tuned to Only Good Movies as the end of October draws near. We’ll be profiling plenty of other movie Halloween cotumes, including options for our male reader. And since some of us may be carrying around a few extra pounds, I’ll make certain to include options that feature lots of baggy material and form-concealing capes.

Neytiri from Avatar – You’d better be in great shape if you’re going to show up at the annual Halloween party dressed like the female protagonist from Avatar. Still, there’s little doubt that it falls into the category of sexy Halloween costumes, and it’s a great way to ensure that all eyes in the room are drawn to you. Face make-up would help complete the look, although the model above looks more like a hot corpse than anything else.

Lilah from Jonah Hex – While the movie may have sucked, this costume from Jonah Hex will turn plenty of heads. After all, what red-blooded male at a Halloween party isn’t going to be drawn to a woman dressed up like an Old West prostitute?

Princess Leia slave costume from Return of the Jedi – After all these years, men still go nuts for the sexy outfit worn by Carrie Fisher during her stay with the rotund Jabba the Hut. If you’ve got the body for it, you might also consider coating yourself in baby oil (just like the model above).

Black Widow from Iron Man 2 – Scarlett Johansson filled out this leather jumpsuit quite nicely in Iron Man 2, and it’s certainly one of the more eye-catching movie Halloween costumes on this list. Dark hair (especially red) and an ample bosom are also a major plus if you decide to go with this look. You’ll have to beat the fanboys away with a stick.

Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz – Men love to look at sexy Halloween costumes and fantasize, while women like to feel pretty and/or desired. This Dorothy costume should satisfy both genders. While meant to be sweet and innocent, there’s just something about it that drives men wild, although the entire effect is lost without a pair of bright red shoes. The basket is a nice touch, although I wouldn’t recommend trying to carry a real dog in it throughout your Halloween party.

Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader from ??? – I realize that this article is supposed to look at some of the best movie Halloween costumes, but I couldn’t resist putting this one on the list. The most famous cheerleaders in all of professional sports, nobody can wear a pair of white boots and short shorts like a member of the Dallas Cowboys squad. The pom-poms will be a pain in the ass to keep up with all night, but they do make a great prop (at least in the early stages of the party, before everyone gets tipsy and stops caring).

Dark Heart Queen from Alice in Wonderland (sort of) – Nowhere in Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland does this sexy Halloween costume appear, but it’s definitely inspired by the summer blockbuster. That tiny hat would normally look silly as hell, but somehow the smoking hot blonde above manages to pull it off.

Marilyn Monroe from The Seven Year Itch – When it comes to cinematic sensuality, it’s hard to beat the scene in The Seven Year Itch when Marilyn Monroe’s skirt is blown up by a subway train passing underground. That’s going to be hard to duplicate at a Halloween party, but the blonde hair and low-cut bustline should help compensate. Talking in an obnoxious-if-you-weren’t-sexy voice should help complete the ensemble.

Snow White from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs – While the young princess from the animated Disney version dressed a little more conservatively, this is exactly how she looks in the fantasy land inside my head. Oh, and the dwarfs are all played by Ron Jeremy.

Princess Leia from Star Wars – Honest to goodness, I’m not a Star Wars geek. I’ve only included two Princess Leia outifts on this list because they remain some of the sexiest movie Halloween costumes on the market. The version shown above gets a big boost by showing off a lot more leg than Carrie Fisher’s original costume. I was never a big fan of the goofy hairstyle, but I’m willing to make a few compromises here and there.

When it’s time to put something together for all the parties you’re invited to, I hope this list of sexy Halloween costumes will provide a little inspiration. The above images were all taken from the same website (BuyCostumes.com), so tracking them down shouldn’t be difficult.

If you decide to buy one of these outfits, go ahead and take a picture of yourself and send it to us at onlygoodmovies[at]gmail[dot]com. We’ll post it on our site, and maybe we’ll even give out a prize for the best Halloween costume. Anyone interested in a copy of Uwe Boll’s Postal?

Fans of Angelina Jolie movies will want to take a look at these 10 films by the actress famous for her plump lips, romance with Brad Pitt, and fondness for adopting kids from foreign countries. These are, in my opinion, the finest examples of her acting ability, and it’s little surprise that many received awards or, at the very least, nominations.

The films of Angelina Jolie can all be found at Netflix, and becoming a member is a snap. There are pricing plans to meet every budget, postage is pre-paid, and there’s never any late fee. Just click on the link to get yourself a Netflix membership today.

Changeling (2008) – Of all the films of Angelina Jolie, there’s little doubt that this is one of her finest performances. She of the massive lips plays Christine Collins, a working mom in 1928 Los Angeles who returns home one day to find her son missing. One police report and several months later, she’s reunited with her son, but she quickly points out that the boy the police put forward isn’t her child. They suggest she give the kid a spin “on a trial basis,” and Christine finds that going to the media results in a number of unpleasant consequences. Directed by Clint Eastwood, it’s a touching film about corruption and the undying love of a mother for her child. And, amazingly enough, it’s based on a true story.

Girl, Interrupted (1999) – While Winona Ryder gets top billing in this film about a teenage girl undergoing psychiatric treatment in 1967, it’s Jolie who steals the show with her portrayal of the chaotically magnetic Lisa Rowe. Critics and colleagues agreed, awarding her a Golden Globe, Academy Award, and SAG Award for her performance.

Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005) – Few Angelina Jolie movies have caused quite the stir that this one did, largely due to the off-screen antics of the two leads. This is the film that brought the Brad Pitt/Jennifer Aniston marriage tumbling down, as Pitt and Jolie fell in love on the set. The film isn’t bad, either, with two of the world’s most beautiful people playing a bored married couple who are secretly assassins for the government. When they’re assigned to kill the same man, it touches off an action-packed sequence of fights, shootouts, and car chases. Co-starring Vince Vaughn, Keith David, Adam Brody, and Kerry Washington.

Foxfire (1996) – A group of normal suburban teen girls are empowered by the arrival of a mysterious drifter known as “Legs” (Jolie). The resulting teen rebellion results in tattoos, fires at the school, pervy teachers being confronted, and one unlucky parent taking a bullet in the chest. Teen angst never looked so good. Co-starring Jenny Shimizu, who Jolie fell madly in love with off-screen.

A Mighty Heart (2007) – Jolie plays Mariane Pearl, the real-life spouse of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl. Sadly, Daniel was kidnapped and beheaded in 2002 by Islamic militants. This heartbreaking film follows the efforts to locate Daniel, and then the quest to bring his killers to justice. Jolie received some flack for playing the biracial Pearl, but it turns out the widow personally chose her for the role.

Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001) – Still one of the best known Angelina Jolie movies, largely due to the actress portraying the world’s most iconic, big-breasted video game heroine. Jolie’s real-life dad, Jon Voight, co-stars as Lara’s long-dead father, and a pre-Bond Daniel Craig is fellow tomb raider Alex West. At stake is an artifact that can give its wielder power over time and space, and the secretive Illuminati are willing to do anything to get their hands on it.

Pushing Tin (1998) – John Cusack and Billy Bob Thornton play rival air traffic controllers in this underrated film from director Mike Newell. As the competition escalates, their wives (Angelina Jolie and Cate Blanchett) are drawn into the fray with unexpected results. It was during the filming of this project that Jolie met and fell for second husband Billy Bob Thornton (you may notice a pattern forming).

Gia (1998) – Jolie won a Golden Globe and SAG Award for her role in this HBO original movie. She plays Gia Marie Carangi, a real-life model who gained attention in the 1980s before dying of AIDS due to chronic drug use. Co-starring Faye Dunaway, Mercedes Ruehl, and a very young Mila Kunis. The most depressing of all Angelina Jolie movies, but still worth watching for the strong performances and cautionary messages.

The Good Shepherd (2006) – Robert De Niro helmed this spy thriller that claimed to tell the untold story of the birth of the Central Intelligence Agency. Matt Damon stars as Edward Wilson, a young man who’s recruited into the ranks of the agency and climbs the ladder through great personal sacrifice. Jolie co-stars as Margaret “Clover” Russell, the sister of a friend who winds up married to Wilson. As you might have guessed, his globetrotting and secret keeping don’t exactly make for a healthy relationship.

Wanted (2008) – James McAvoy plays Wesley Gibson, a frustrated young man stuck in a cubicle and an unfaithful relationship. That’s when Fox (Jolie) enters his life, informing him that the father he never knew was the world’s greatest assassin (and the man who killed him is in the same room). While not the center of the story, Jolie gets to participate in a number of bullet-riddled set pieces and drive fanboys crazy by showing lots of skin. Originally scheduled to appear in the sequel, Jolie pulled out in early 2010.

These Lindsay Lohan quotes are an invaluable tool for those who want to pry open the mind of a celebrity and see what’s inside (if anything). LiLo has been making plenty of headlines in recent years, as her innocent image has been shed for one of all-night drinking binges, bisexual romps, and tales of unprofessional behavior. As of this writing, the latest incident resulted in her getting 90 days in jail for violating her parole. Other highlights include missing a flight (and a $150k payday) while shopping for cigarettes in a duty free store, getting arrested for DUI shortly after leaving rehab, accidentally posting her phone number on Facebook, engaging in a high-profile relationship with a female DJ, and showing up to court for sentencing with a manicured middle fingernail reading “F**k U.”

“No potential.” (Lindsay Lohan after reading the script for The Hangover and passing on the role of Jade)

“I want to get married before I’m 30. And I’d like to win an Oscar before then.”

“Life is full of risks anyway, why not take them?”

“I love my red hair. It makes me spunkier.”

“I feel a bit classier with this hair.” (after becoming a brunette)

“I would go to NYU. I’m a New York girl, and it’s easy to get to London and L.A. from here.” (Lindsay Lohan quote about going to college)

“You need to stop acting like the damn drama queen.” (Lohan to Hilary Duff)

“I love you Hilary Duff!”

“I’m an angel compared to some of my friends.”

“It’s so weird that I went to rehab. I always said I would die before I went to rehab.”

“I don’t like to talk about politics. If you say you’re a Democrat, that’ll turn off Republicans, and that’s half of your fan base.”

“Never say never. The things that you don’t plan are the best. I’m a very spontaneous person.”

“When someone tells me not to do something, I’ll do it more.” (Lindsay Lohan quote about her stubborn streak)

“It is clear to me that my life has become completely unmanageable because I am addicted to alcohol and drugs.” (A statement from Lindsay Lohan about her various addictions)

“My mom is going to kill me for talking about sleeping with people. But I don’t want to put myself in the position where I’m in a monogamous relationship right now. I’m not dating just one person. Sex and the City changed everything for me because those girls would sleep with so many people.”

“Marriage is a big deal, but who’s to say I’m not going to pull a Vegas and get married to see what it’s like for a minute?”

“Jared [Leto] was so paranoid. He’d always be like, ‘Don’t come over if you’re going to bring 15 paparazzi!’” (Lindsay Lohan commenting on her former relationship with Jared Leto)

“It’s absolute hell. I’m not a bad person, and this is what happens. I was raised to treat people well, and I’m so tired of this drama. They’re making me sound like I’m crazy…I’m the girl that wakes up to feed the dog. It’s not fair…everyone’s turned on me. I’m the victim here. I am so alone.” (Lohan on her breakup with Samantha Ronson)

“When I’m walking down the red carpet and everybody is screaming my name, all I’m doing is worrying that they’re thinking, like, ‘Oh, she didn’t wave at me, she’s such a bitch!’”

“How can you not like Britney Spears?”

“Girls my age dress so much raunchier than I’d ever imagine myself dressing. I understand that I’m a role model, though, and I have to look out for that. I have a 10-year-old sister, too. But you also want to be appealing to guys and stuff, that’s just something girls feel. It’s hard. You want to be that girl that’s unattainable to all the guys because there are so many other girls out there that are like that.”

“It’s flattering that people want to know so much about me and want to take the time to make up that many things about me.”

“The first colored President.” (A Lindsay Lohan quote referring to President Barack Obama)

“I don’t even know how to take a break, because I go crazy. I just sit in a room and I don’t know what to do. I went to the Metropolitan Museum and just sat there. But they didn’t take any pictures of that, which sucks, because that would have been more interesting than pictures of me coming out of a club.”

“I’m not skinny for the wrong reasons. It’s not because I’m bulimic or anorexic or doing drugs. Compared to a lot of actresses my age, I’m actually overweight.” (One of the most disturbing Lindsay Lohan quotes)

“Why would I hang out with you?” (Lindsay’s text reply to Kevin Federline’s invitation to hang out.)

“I’m not going to deny the fact that I’ve tried pot. I hated it.”

“Hopefully people know me for my work – not my car accidents.”

“I’m not doing Playboy, no. Never.” (One of the many Lindsay Lohan quotes from 2004)

“I talk about my impulses with my therapist — I have a shopping problem. I love to shop too much.”

“I don’t want to keep doing all commercial stuff. But timing is everything. I got this one script where this girl wants to join a Latino gang and she gets raped. I can’t be doing that right now. I don’t think that’s appropriate.”

“I did get to work with Anthony Hopkins on The Human Stain. If I ever manage to accomplish a quarter of what he’s achieved, I’ll have had one hell of a career.” (Lindsay speaking about her acting role models)

“I’m not that girl from Freaky Friday any more! I’m a real adult. In fact, I hate children! I hate them all!”

“I was going out with someone and they said I should read Machiavelli and I was like, ‘Nah’, and then I was, ‘Ok, I’ll read it’, and now it is always with me.”

“The biggest misconception is probably that I don’t have my head in the right place.”

“Yeah, I have a dark side. I watched all those videos on Charles Manson for a while.”

“People go to college to find who they are as a person and find what they want to do in life, and I kind of already know that so it would be like I’d be taking a step back or something.”

“I was sick. I had people sit me down and say, ‘You’re going to die if you don’t take care of yourself.’”

“If I dated as many people as they said I have, then I would be dead, because it’s just not possible.”

“I want to go to Egypt and Japan and open orphanages — a chain of them.”

“I hate it when people call me a teen queen. The past year has felt like five lifetimes because I’ve grown up a lot.” (Lindsay Lohan from her days as a teen queen)

“I have this Playboy book called Redheads, and I was reading all these things about how redheads are more passionate and apparently they’re much more sexual than girls with other hair colors. I think I’m more sexual than my friends. More comfortable in my skin. I’m a sexual person, definitely.”

“It’s hard in L.A. not to go out, it gets lonely. Being an actress is lonely, and I never want to be alone. I hate sleeping alone.”

“I’m Irish-Italian, so I’ve got a really bad temper.”

“I say too much sometimes, but I’m honest, that’s the important thing.”

“I want to get a nomination. I want to win an Oscar. I want to be known for more than, like, going out. For being ‘the party girl.’ I hate that. I bust my ass when I’m filming and when I have time off, yeah, I like to go out and dance.”

“I wanted to do what Marilyn Monroe did [during the Korean War], when she went and just set up a stage and did a concert for the troops all by herself. It’s so amazing seeing that– one woman just going somewhere, this beautiful sex kitten, who’s basically a pinup, which is what I’ve always aspired to be.” (Lohan on her admiration for Marilyn Monroe)

“I want our relationship to be like the one Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio have.” (Lohan speaking about the director of I Know Who Killed Me. One of my favorite Lindsay Lohan quotes.)

“I don’t think people should do anything to be popular. But maybe within reason they can step out of their comfort zones and do things to be more ‘accessible’. Like taking drugs or drinking heavily to be cool.”

So that’s our list of Lindsay Lohan quotes. Some are unintentionally hilarious, some are sad, and others just show LiLo to be an immature girl surrounded by predatory paparazzi. Whatever the case, it’s a fascinating look into the mind of a celebrity. For more of the same, be sure to check out our following links from Only Good Movies:

Good Sandra Bullock movies are in high demand these days, especially due to the success of films like The Proposal and The Blind Side. It doesn’t hurt that she’s funny and pretty, with the type of beauty that actually makes normal guys think they might have a shot (yeah, right). The following list details ten good Sandra Bullock movies, with an emphasis on the overall production as opposed to her individual performance.

All of the films listed below can be obtained through Netflix, the world leader when it comes to renting movies online. With multiple pricing plans, pre-paid postage, and hundreds of thousands of titles to choose from, becoming a member should be one of the easier decisions you’ve ever made.

Before we examine the list of good Sandra Bullock movies, let’s look at a few interesting facts about the actress:

Her father was an executive and voice coach, and her mother was a voice teacher and opera singer.

Fluent in German, Bullock lived in Nuremberg, Germany until the age of 12.

During her high school years, Bullock was a cheerleader and dated a football player. She attended the same high school as Warren Beatty and Shirley MacLaine.

Her maternal grandfather from Germany was a rocket scientist.

Despises musicals and has vowed to never star in one.

Bullock is the only performer to win an Oscar and a Razzie in the same year.

After winning a Worst Actress Razzie for All About Steve, Bullock showed up in person to accept her award.

Films starring Bullock have earned over $3 billion at the box office.

Served as an executive producer for The George Lopez Show.

Bullock is allergic to horses.

Now that you know a little bit more about the multi-talented actress, let’s take a look at some good Sandra Bullock movies.

Speed (1994) – Bullock shot to stardom as Annie Porter, a passenger on a public bus who’s forced to take the wheel and make sure its speed doesn’t fall below 50 mph (which would trigger a bomb). Luckily, she’s had her driver’s license suspended, so she knows a thing or two about moving violations. Between navigating through traffic and cracking wise, Bullock gets ample opportunity to demonstrate her likable persona and chemistry with star Keanu Reeves. If you consider yourself a Sandra Bullock fan, this actioner from Jan de Bont is required viewing.

Infamous (2006) – The actress gives an understated performance as author Harper Lee, friend and companion to Truman Capote while he researched his novel In Cold Blood. While Toby Jones is magnificent as Capote, Bullock deserves equal credit as the grounded author of To Kill a Mockingbird. She especially stands out among the artistic elite during the scenes set in New York, a chain-smoking calm in the center of a rather flamboyant storm.

Hope Floats (1998) – Forest Whitaker helmed this Texas-based romance about Birdee Pruitt (Bullock), a mother and wife who learns of her husband’s infidelity during an appearance on a national television program. Humiliated by the experience, she takes her daughter and moves back to her hometown in Texas. There, she must reconnect with her parents (including Gena Rowlands), endure the snickers of former high school rivals, and support the young daughter who mistakenly blames Birdee for the collapse of her marriage. Fortunately, she gets some support in the form of Justin Matisse (Harry Connick, Jr.), a hunky local with a hankerin’ for love. One of the lesser-known Sandra Bullock movies, Hope Floats remains a delightful romance about making lemonade when life hands you lemons.

Murder by Numbers (2002) – One of the more complex roles of Bullock’s career, Det. Cassie Mayweather is a strong-willed and often unlikable cop on the trail of two wealthy teenage murderers (including Ryan Gosling). Not willing to concede defeat, Cassie alienates everyone around her while following up her own theories on the case. Bullock carries the film admirably and shows a side not often seen in her showbiz career.

A Time to Kill (1996) – After his 10-year-old daughter is raped and nearly killed, Carl Lee Hailey (Samuel L. Jackson) guns down the white men responsible. Now facing the death penalty, Carl Lee is represented by Jake Brigance (Matthew McConaughey), a laid back Mississippi lawyer. Bullock co-stars as Ellen Roark, a card-carrying member of the ACLU and Massachusetts law student who offers her assistance for free. Sparks nearly fly between Jake and Ellen, and Bullock once again demonstrates her ability to generate chemistry with her leading men. The movie itself is part courtroom drama and part Southern-fried thriller, but the strong casting more than makes up for frequent overdoses of sentimentality.

28 Days (2000) – Bullock shows off her dramatic side in this tale of a journalist with a drinking problem. Forced to enter rehab to avoid a jail sentence, she slowly begins to take stock of her life and work towards positive change. Steve Buscemi co-stars as a counselor, Dominic West is her unsupportive boyfriend, and the members of rehab include Viggo Mortensen, Diane Ladd, Alan Tudyk, and Mike O’Malley. Betty Thomas directs.

The Blind Side (2009) – Not only did this become the highest-grossing film to feature just a female lead above the credits, but Bullock also received the Academy Award for Best Actress. Playing real-life Southern spitfire Leigh Anne Tuohy, Bullock displays plenty of sass as the kind-hearted wife and mother who takes in a homeless teenager (Quinton Aaron) and watches him grow into an NFL player.

While You Were Sleeping (1995) – Lucy Moderatz (Bullock) is a lonely Chicago railroad clerk with a crush on frequent commuter Peter Callaghan (Peter Gallagher). When he’s pushed onto the tracks by a mugger, Lucy saves his life and accompanies him to the emergency room. There, a simple misunderstanding results in the embarrassed Lucy being introduced as the fiancée of the comatose Peter, something which she fails to clear up for his relatives. But as she’s warmly accepted into the Callaghan family, things get even more complicated when she begins to fall for Jack (Bill Pullman), Peter’s brother. Bullock once again portrayed a likable gal with a sense of humor, and this film continued to push her star higher into the heavens.

Crash (2004) – Winner of three Oscars, Crash features an ensemble cast and weaves together multiple narratives in The City of Angels. Bullock plays Jean Cabot, the wife of the city’s District Attorney (Brendan Fraser), a man not above using issues of race to advance his career. After being robbed, Jean must deal with her own preconceived notions about race in this thought-provoking film from director Paul Haggis. Co-starring Matt Dillon, Don Cheadle, Terrence Howard, Thandie Newton, and Ludacris.

Miss Congeniality (2000) – Sandra Bullock has starred in numerous comedies, but Miss Congeniality allows her to act goofier than all the other films put together. She stars as Gracie Hart, a tough FBI agent who must go undercover at a beauty pageant to catch a terrorist. But transforming from tomboy into her glamorous alias, Gracie Lou Freebush, won’t be easy. Luckily, she’ll get plenty of help from gay pageant expert Victor Melling (Michael Caine) and partner/potential love interest, Eric Matthews (Benjamin Bratt). Fans of the goofy side of Bullock will get a kick out of watching her snort while she laughs and demonstrate self-defense techniques for the talent portion of the pageant.

Lord, how I love those movie bad girls. In the old days, these vixens often came clad in an elegant dress with perfectly-coiffed hair. In modern cinema, they’re just as likely to feature ripped muscles, lots of leather, and a big-ass gun. But regardless of what size or shape they come in, I’ve always had a weakness for the dangerous ladies of cinema.

Jennifer’s Body hit theaters this weekend, and it’s shaping up to be a classic bad girl movie. Megan Fox plays the title character, a popular girl who gets possessed by a demon and goes bat-shit crazy on her school’s male population. I don’t know ‘bout you, but that qualifies as “bad girl” behavior in my book.

So I sez to myself, “Self, why not get off your duff and put together a list of some of your favorite big-screen bitches?” So that’s what I’ve done. Below, you’ll find a list of my 27 Top Movie Bad Girls. I’m especially proud of this list, as I was able to complete it entirely without stopping to masturbate. When you see the dark and deadly ladies who made the cut, you’ll understand why that was such an accomplishment.

Catherine Tramell (Sharon Stone) from Basic Instinct – A bisexual crime novelist with a thing for icepicks, Catherine Tramell uncrossed her legs right into the annals of movie history. When she wasn’t lezzing out with female lover, Roxy, she was getting all hot and heavy with Michael Douglas, king of the women-are-fucking-crazy movies. During the interrogation scene, you’ll need a cigarette yourself as Stone sucks on a cancer stick and exposes her stuff to the world. Heck, even Wayne Knight (Newman!) was leaning in to get a better look.

Gwen Dulaine (Mamie Van Doren) from High School Confidential! – When a man who married his real-life 13-year-old cousin (Jerry Lee Lewis) plays the title song from the back of a flatbed truck, you can guess that the rest of the film is gonna be filled with plenty of aberrant behavior. Gwen Dulaine epitomizes this attitude, doing everything in her power to seduce her undercover cop nephew. Whether she’s rolling around seductively on her bed, giving him a not-as-innocent-as-it-should-be kiss, or sporting one of those crazy bullet bras from the ‘50s, Van Doren is pure lust in a very tightly-wrapped package.

Xenia Onatopp (Famke Janssen) from Goldeneye – Crazy Russians are always popular movie villains, and the perfectly-named Xenia Onatopp broke the mold as a gun-wielding psycho who likes to kill men by getting them between her lethal thighs (did I just write “lethal thighs”?). Played with absolute relish by Famke Janssen, this ultimate bad girl gives our favorite British spy fits. She ultimately goes the way of all James Bond villains, but she make one helluva impression before she struts off to that big villain’s lair in the sky.

Nikita (Anne Parillaud) from La Femme Nikita – A former junkie and cop killer, Nikita has her death faked by the French government and gets put to work as a reluctant assassin. She becomes a bit more sympathetic when she’s off the junk, but her employers make it clear that they now own her body and soul. While she looks for a way out, she continues her assignments, proving that the French can make even cold-blooded murder seem sexy.

Ivy (Drew Barrymore) from Poison Ivy – Jailbait is like kryptonite for middle-aged men, and this has never been more true than in the case of Ivy. After moving it with the Cooper family, she promptly seduces the husband and then murders his wife. That only leaves the plain-Jane daughter to get to the bottom of things, and the resulting catfight is one for the books. Watch for a young Leonardo DiCaprio in the role of “Guy.”

Matty Walker (Kathleen Turner) from Body Heat – Nobody ever steamed up the screen like Matty Walker. With a killer bod and a sexy-yet-husky voice, she had no problem twisting a shady lawyer (John Hurt) around her little finger. She gets him to murder her husband, inherits the entire shebang, and then leaks information which leaves her horndog helper behind bars. Walker embodies the spirit of the femme fatales of old, just with lots more nudity.

Jessica Rabbit (voice of Kathleen Turner) from Who Framed Roger Rabbit – Kathleen Turner lands on the list again, this time as the voice of the impossibly proportioned cartoon character known as Jessica Rabbit. Married to a comical cartoon rabbit named Roger, she’s one of the prime suspects when people start showing up dead. As she famously purrs to the private dick played by Bob Hoskins, “I’m not bad. I’m just drawn that way.”

Varla (Tura Satana) from Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! – While she and her go-go dancing pals are out drag racing, Varla comes across a young couple. With her bad girl reputation in question, Varla kills the boyfriend with her bare hands, then proceeds to beat and drug the girlfriend and toss her into the trunk. And that’s just for starters, as the evil wench later decides to rob a wheelchair-bound old man and his simpleminded son. When exploitation master Russ Meyer dreams up a bad girl, he certainly doesn’t pull any punches.

Gail (Rosario Dawson) from Sin City – A six-foot dominatrix who wears an outfit made of metal, leather and fishnet stockings, Gail is one of the top bad girls in Old Town, the part of Sin City controlled by the prostitutes. She gets a kick out of violence, and this is adequately demonstrated when we see her fire off an Uzi with a look of pure satisfaction. Ex-lover Dwight (Clive Owen) refers to her as “my valkyrie,” and that’s about as appropriate a comparison as any.

SIL (Natasha Henstridge) from Species – There’s always a catch when it comes to beautiful women. In the case of SIL, the catch comes when she morphs from a sexy blonde into a horrific alien and kills your ass. Sure, it’s just instinct on her part, but that sort of lethally-horny behavior more than qualifies her for a spot at our bad girl table.

Coffy (Pam Grier) from Coffy – When her sister gets all messed up on smack, the nurse known as Coffy decides to punish those responsible. In true bad girl fashion, she does the work herself, not needing to crawl to some sweaty man for assistance. Using a combination of guns and her feminine “assets,” she dispatches pimps, crooked cops, and mobsters with lethal efficiency. Sporting a bitchin’ 70’s afro and a head-turning rack, this Coffy will definitely keep you up all night.

Mallory Knox (Juliette Lewis) from Natural Born Killers – Abused by her father in more ways than one, little Mallory hooks up with Mickey Knox and goes on a multi-state killing spree. While her love for Mickey is absolute, anyone else who gets in her way is screwed. Mallory is a bad girl through and through, but in the paranoid hands of director Oliver Stone, she becomes a monstrous version of the American dream gone horribly wrong.

Janine Lustoffen (Janine Lindemulder) from Bad Girls: Lockdown – Her name is Janine Lustofften. Get it? Lust Often? Anyways, porn star Janine Lindemulder stretches her acting range and her vagina in this tale of a woman sent away to prison. Sure, it’s a porno, but it’s also entitled Bad Girls, so I pretty much have to include it on the list. Janine was in her I-don’t-do-guys phase back then, so that leaves even more time for her to get know fellow inmates Debi Diamond and Asia Carrera. Porn imitates life, as Janine was sentenced to six months in real-life prison in 2008 for tax evasion. Somehow, I’m guessing her cellmates looked nothing like Asia Carrera.

Phyllis Dietrichson (Barbara Stanwyck) from Double Indemnity – Oh, what a treacherous dame! Phyllis starts out as the nurse to a wealthy man, but she later gets a promotion to the bedroom after murdering his wife. She then takes out the famous double indemnity policy and has her shiny new hubby disposed of, while at the same time getting nasty with the young boyfriend of her step-daughter. And to top it all off, she’s manipulating an insurance agent into helping her get away with the whole thing. It almost works, too, but she finally gets the film noir justice that’s been coming to her.

Camero (America Olivo) from Bitch Slap – First of all, Camero’s muscles make her a whole different breed of bad girl. Add some super-sized guns, a bad attitude towards men, and her fondness for “gash bashing,” and you’ve got one of the baddest ladies to ever be caught on film. And when she’s not throwing people into trunks to find the location of hidden diamonds, she also likes to run some drugs on the side. She’d be a complete lowlife if America Olivo didn’t make her so damn hot.

Catwoman (Michelle Pfeiffer) from Batman Returns – If Christopher Walken threw you off a building, you’d be pissed. Of course, you’d probably also be dead. But not Selina Kyle. No, after being revived by a group of cats, she promptly returns home, makes herself a patchwork leather bondage outfit (complete with whip), and gets to work on ridding Gotham of Batman. Sure, she’s a little misguided, but what whip-wielding former secretary isn’t? At least she wasn’t teaching inner-city kids to read fruity poetry.

Bridget Gregory (Linda Fiorentino) from The Last Seduction – Of all the women on this list, perhaps none are as comfortable with using their sexuality to get what they want as Bridget Gregory. This leads to a tangled web filled with murder, intrigue, and plenty of rough sex. She escapes the clutches of a detective by repeatedly questioning the size of his penis, murders her drug-dealing husband, and uses a small-town boy’s brief marriage to a transsexual as grist for her mill. It’s a seedy world she lives in, but the sultry Bridget seems right at home.

Brigid O’Shaughnessy (Mary Astor) from The Maltese Falcon – Bad girls love aliases, and this murderous tramp has more than her share. She also has a fondness for money, as demonstrated by her willingness to do anything to help out the ruthless treasure hunter known as The Fat Man (Sydney Greenstreet). While she initially manipulates Sam Spade (Humphrey Bogart) into aiding her cause, the worldly detective eventually makes her pay with the line, “Yes, angel, I’m gonna send you over.” Another film noir girl gone bad.

Sylvia (Monica Bellucci) from Brotherhood of the Wolf – When our hero first wanders into a French brothel, he’s immediately taken aback by the seductive curves of the Italian mystery woman known only as Sylvia. But there’s more to the busty beauty than meets the eye: she’s a spy sent by the Vatican to eliminate an insane priest. And after helping the protagonist fake his own death, she demonstrates her lethal abilities by slitting a fellow bad girl’s throat with some kind of crazy bladed fan. And don’t miss one of the greatest transition shots in movie history, as Sylvia’s milky-white breasts suddenly transform into a pair of snow-covered mountains.

Ginger McKenna (Sharon Stone) from Casino – Ms. Stone makes the list again, this time as a Vegas hustler with good looks and bad morals. We first see Ginger cozying up to gamblers and relieving them of their money, some of which she sends to her old pimp boyfriend, Lester Diamond (the delightfully sleazy James Woods). But her scumbag meter really kicks into the red after marrying the smitten Ace Rothstein (Bobby De Niro). When she’s not fleecing him for everything he’s got, she’s happy to jump into bed with every man in town, including Ace’s old friend–and total psycho–Nicky Santoro (Joe Pesci). She later ties her own daughter to a bed, tries to have Ace murdered, and then rolls around on a bank floor in a shameless display of naked greed. Without a doubt, one of the most unredeemable bad girls in movie history.

Baby Firefly (Sheri Moon Zombie) from The Devil’s Rejects/House of 1000 Corpses – Baby likes to sport one of those folded-up cowboy hats and jeans which hang low enough to expose her crack. While that’s hardly good girl behavior, her slutty fashion sense is only the tip of the iceberg. You see, Baby also has a thing for murdering total strangers, and she’s real handy with knives. Whether she’s throwing them into the chest cavity of a Three’s Company alum or stabbing her victim to death in a lonesome field, this white trash horror icon is one bad mamma-jamma.

Mrs. Eleanor Iselin (Angela Lansbury) from The Manchurian Candidate – I always hated Murder, She Wrote, and that’s the first thing I think of when I see Angela Lansbury. Then I recall her role in The Manchurian Candidate, and I almost entirely forget about the former. With a brainwashed son and a deck full of playing cards, Mrs. Iselin is way worse than a bad girl…she’s a dirty commie.

Mia Wallace (Uma Thurman) from Pulp Fiction – Nice girls don’t snort their nose full of cocaine and bang the hired help, but Mia Wallace does. And when she doesn’t have a giant needle sticking out of her chest, she also does some pretty mean dancing. And the true test of her cinematic badness? She can make geometric objects appear out of the blue. Now that’s bad.

Pearl (Lucy Liu) from Payback – Back when she was billed as Lucy Alexis Liu, the actress from Charlie’s Angels played a kinky dominatrix in bed with the Chinese Triad. Girls into bondage and submission are always bad, and Ms. Liu more than proved it by trying to crush Mel Gibson’s nuts under her spiked heel. We also get to see more flesh than we’re accustomed to from the slightly cross-eyed actress, as Pearl prefers fishnet stockings and form-fitting leather. She won’t love you long time (couldn’t resist), but she will beat your ass silly and leave you begging for more.

Violet Kimura (Honoka) from The Machine Girl – When it comes to Asian goodness, I couldn’t include Lucy Liu and not Honoka’s portrayal of Violet Kimura. The wife of a Yakuza boss, Violet enjoys beating cute little Japanese maids to death for the slightest infraction, as well as watching while her clumsy chef is forced to eat his own fingers like sushi. But the kicker comes when she unveils the ultimate movie bad girl weapon: a drill bra which tears apart the flesh of anyone who falls into her grasp. Damn, I love Asian women!

Gogo Yubari (Chiaki Kuriyama) from Kill Bill: Vol. 1 – In order to complete the Asian bad girl trifecta, I present the psychotic stylings of Gogo Yubari. Dressed up in the sexy Japanese schoolgirl look that us American guys love so much, Gogo serves as the personal bodyguard for a powerful crime boss (Lucy Liu, coincidentally). And when she’s not disemboweling guys at bars for hitting on her, she’s wielding a crazy weapon known as a meteor hammer. Her role isn’t a big one, but I guarantee you’ll remember her.

Elsa Bannister (Rita Hayworth) from The Lady from Shanghai – After duping a sailor into signing a fake murder confession, Elsa really does kill someone, making the poor sap’s conviction an open-and-shut case. Hayworth is stunning as always, her short, blonde hair in complete contrast to the voluminous style from Gilda. Whether she’s scheming against her naïve new beau or duping her crippled husband, Elsa is a woman who, in her own words, has surrendered to “badness.” It’s almost a pity she has to die in that famous Hall of Mirrors shootout.

1. “I have a mouth and I’m not afraid to use it.” – Entertainment Weekly
2. “I would love to do a movie naked; it would be beautiful. No one dares make that kind of film today. They did it in the 1930s in an arty way, so why not now?” – The Daily Star
3. “I’m just really confident sexually, and I think that sort of oozes out of my pores. It’s just there. It’s something I don’t have to turn on.” - Elle
4. “Women are the quickest to call other women sluts, which is sad. I haven’t met a lot of men who’ve said, ‘You like having sex? What a dirty whore you are!’ That’s because they wish their wives or girlfriends would have more sex with them.” – FHM
5. “I could see myself in a relationship with a girl — Olivia Wilde is so sexy she makes me want to strangle a mountain ox with my bare hands.” – GQ

From time to time, I feel the need to profile especially lovely and talented ladies in the movie industry. I like to call this feature Big Screen Beauties, and our very first subject is none other than Spanish actress Paz Vega.

Paz Campos Trigo (later known as Paz Vega) was born on January 2nd, 1976 in Seville, Andalucia, Spain. Her father was a retired bullfighter and her mother was a housewife. She developed the acting bug at age 15, and she later studied theatre and journalism until the age of 20.

She made her television debut on the Spanish series Menudo es mi padre, and her first film was Mas alla del jardin. Her breakout role came in 1999 with 7 Vidas, a Spanish version of the hit series Friends. From there, she received acting roles opposite Adam Sandler (Spanglish) and Morgan Freeman (10 Items or Less). These last two roles boosted her international appeal, and she’s currently working on a number of English-language projects (as well as doing some modeling).

Keep an eye on Paz Vega, as I’m predicting you’ll see her around for many years to come.

Paz Vega Movies
