AMC movie theaters are part of the second-largest cinema chain in the country, with nearly 6,000 screens spread out across forty states. AMC is notable for being one of the more profitable movie theater chains in the world. They’re doing something right at AMC, and charging as much as $15 a ticket in some markets is a large part of that.

The “Entertainment Book” is a great place to find AMC movie theater coupons–a new edition of this book is released every year, and every year like clockwork there’s a few AMC movie theater coupons thrown in. These coupons are usually good for a few bucks off your ticket price, reducing the cost of an AMC movie theater ticket to $5 or $6. Get details on the Entertainment Book here.

AMC has a program called “Summer Movie Camp” at participating theaters. Starting at 10 am on certain days during the summer, AMC shows select movies for just $1. You don’t have to be a kid to participate in this “camp”–the program was designed for families and large groups. We’re not talking about first-run movies here, but you can get the whole movie theater experience plus a great morning or afternoon of entertainment for just a few bucks.

Many AMC movie theater locations show what are called “pre-matinee” movies around 10 in the morning. These tickets cost even less than the already-low matinee price–typically, these movies cost about $4 per person and are the same movies that are showing at the theater during regular hours.

Though the program is in a period of transition, AMC’s MovieWatcher discount plan rewards you for watching movies and buying snacks at AMC theaters. The new plan hasn’t been announced, but will probably be similar to the old MovieWatcher deal where every dollar you spend at an AMC theater equals a point towards free snacks and movies.

You don’t have to dig and dig in the local newspaper for the occasional AMC movie theater coupon–you can buy tickets in bulk for group discount rates, buy tickets directly from the AMC website for a small discount, and contact your AAA agent (if you’re a member) or other auto insurance company to see if they offer cheap rates for members.
