DVD and Blu-Ray Releases for 4/20/09

As we do every week, it’s time to look at the new movie releases coming out on DVD and Blu-Ray. Last week was kind of barren, but things are picking up substantially as of 4/20/09. Hope you enjoy some of the following movies, and be sure and drop us a line about your viewing experiences.

4/20/09 on DVD

The Burrowers – In the Old West, a rescue party bands together to save a young girl from subterranean monsters. Stars Clancy Brown, Laura Leighton and Sean Patrick Thomas.
Caprica – The pilot for a new TV series set 58 before the events seen in Battlestar Galactica. Stars Eric Stoltz, Esai Morales and Paula Malcomson.
Dante 01 – A French sci-fi film about a prison space station for the insane and its latest inmate.
Frost/Nixon (also on Blu-Ray) – A retelling of events surrounding the historic interviews with Richard Nixon and David Frost. Starring Michael Sheen and Frank Langella.
Genghis Khan: To the Ends of the Earth & Sea (also on Blu-Ray) – A Japanese/Mongolian production about the life of Genghis Khan.
Ghost Train – A Japanese horror film filled with ghosts, trains and zombies.
How About You – An Irish film about a nursing home during the holidays–specifically Ellie, the young woman in charge, and a group of residents known as the Hardcore. Starring Hayley Atwell, Vanessa Redgrave, Joss Ackland and Brenda Fricker.
I Dismember Mama – A man obsesses about killing his mother in this 1974 horror film.
A Jihad for Love – A documentary about the struggles of Muslim homosexuals around the globe.
Laid to Rest – A woman wakes up in a casket with amnesia and a head injury. Soon, a serial killer is hot on her trail. Stars Lena Headey.
The Last Word (also on Blu-Ray) – Wes Bentley plays a man who writes suicide notes for a living. Winona Ryder is the sister of one of his recent clients. As expected, sparks fly.
Notorious (also on Blu-Ray) – A biopic about The Notorious B.I.G. starring Jamal Woolard, Angela Bassett and Derek Luke.
UFC 92: The Ultimate 2008 – Originally held in late December of 2008, the main event of this show is Forrest Griffin against Rashad Evans for the Light Heavyweight Championship.
Wolverine and the X-Men: Heroes Return Trilogy – An animated series featuring everyone’s favorite mutants.
The Wrestler (also on Blu-Ray) – Mickey Rourke stars as an aging wrestler unable to let go of the past. Marisa Tomei also shines as a stripper on the wrong side of 40.

4/20/09 on Blu-Ray
