It’s a whole new week already, which means it’s time for another rundown of the latest DVD and Blu-Ray discs to hit the home theater market. This week’s foreign film selection is particularly good, with such titles as JCVD, Martyrs and Cargo 200. Enjoy!
New DVD Releases
Bride Wars (also on Blu-Ray) – Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway star as lifelong friends who go a little nuts when their dream weddings are scheduled for the same day. This one’s got “chick flick” written all over it.

Hotel for Dogs (also on Blu-Ray) – Two orphans begin to take in dogs at an abandoned house. Stars Emma Roberts, Jake T. Austin and Don Cheadle.
JCVD (also on Blu-Ray) – Jean-Claude Van Damme plays, well, Jean-Claude Van Damme in this surprise hit from the “Muscles from Brussels.” Watch Van Damme suffer for his art and battle some bank robbers to boot.

Martyrs – This French film has been billed as being incredibly violent and disturbing, and scores of audience members have walked out. That tells me all I need to know.
The Uninvited (also on Blu-Ray) – A remake of the South Korean film A Tale of Two Sisters. Starring Elizabeth Banks, Emily Browning and David Strathairn.
What Doesn’t Kill You (also on Blu-Ray) – Ethan Hawke and Mark Ruffalo star as childhood friends growing up in a life of crime on the tough streets of South Boston.
Cargo 200 – A controversial Russian film which casts a critical eye on the late days of Soviet society.
Never Surrender – A MMA fighter seeks revenge against the man who killed his brother. A number of UFC fighters make appearances.
The Night Buffalo – This Spanish film concerns a man’s search for the truth about his friend’s suicide.
One-Eyed Monster – Porn star Ron Jeremy’s penis goes on a killer rampage. I’m not making this one up.
The Hit – Released in 1984, The Hit is about an informant (Terence Stamp) who ratted out the mob and is about to pay for his betrayal. Tracked down by a pair of hitmen (John Hurt and Tim Roth), he agrees to travel back to Paris and face his death, but things get a little complicated along the way.
New Releases on Blu-Ray

Star Trek: Original Series: Season 1 – The first season is now available on Blu-Ray, including classic episodes such as
The Da Vinci Code (2 disc extended cut) – Tom Hanks and his hairpiece are back!
In the Realm of the Senses – A Japanese classic about two obsessed lovers and a severed penis.
Purple Rain – Prince sings, gyrates and crawls around on the floor. And don’t forget about all those doves.
The Reader – Ralph Fiennes and Kate Winslet star in this downer about concentration camps, war criminals, and people who can’t read so well.
