In an effort to bolster his career, a budding comedian and obsessed fan named Rupert Pupkin, resorts to kidnapping America's most popular late-night variety show host.

It's high critical acclaim still hasn't given the Scorsese gem the respect it deserves. The thing that makes a satire like this funny is that it takes a ridiculous situation that turns out to be quite funny, but portrays in a manner that makes you believe that this actually could happen, adding to the hilarity.

DeNiro gives a great off-center performance in this thoughtful comedy that should not become dated any time soon.
