A
down and out alcoholic travels to Las
Vegas to kill himself with alcohol. There
he is befriended by a prostitute who
gives him not the will to live, but the
respect to die.
Two
wonderful performances drive this film.
It's not a happy story but the themes
of human frailty, self-respect, and dignity
come shining through the drunken, depressing
episodes. One of the best movies of the
year and it could easily become one of
your favorites.
Cage
took home a Best Actor Oscar for
this film.
Directed
by Mike Figgis.
