The 10 most anticipated movies of 2010 are going to differ depending on who you talk to. This particular list details the films that have caught my attention for the coming year. Your list will probably vary, so feel free to let us know all about it in the comments section. If you’re undecided, then go ahead and try out a few of the upcoming 2010 films discussed below.

Kick-Ass – Set in the real world, Kick-Ass focuses on a high school kid who decides to become a superhero. While his heart’s in the right place, he doesn’t have any powers. This leads to him getting beaten, stabbed and all manner of other difficulties. Then he runs into Hit Girl and Big Daddy (Nicolas Cage), a vigilante duo waging a lethal war on the local crime lord (Mark Strong). A must-see film for 2010 if you’re a comic book fan.

Let Me In – I loved the original Swedish film about a little boy and his vampire “girlfriend,” so I’m eager to see if the American remake can even come close. Probably not, but I was excited to see that character actor Richard Jenkins was cast as the vampire’s guardian. I can’t imagine that it’ll be as bloody, and the producer’s promise to make it “very accessible to a wider audience” fills me with dread. Still, I’ll be a chump and plop down my money come October.

Clash of the Titans – Set for a March release, Clash of the Titans looks to adapt the 80’s film for a more modern audience. The fights are more brutal, the creatures more impressive, and Liam Neeson as Zeus looks a lot more badass than Laurence Olivier. Looking like a cross between 300 and the video game God of War, Clash of the Titans promises plenty of swords, sandals and sorcery for moviegoers. Hopefully they decided to scrap the kid-friendly clockwork owl. Ralph Fiennes plays the villainous Hades, so that’s also a plus. I wonder if Harry Hamlin will get a cameo?

The Expendables – A cast of veteran action heroes join forces to play a group of mercs trying to take down a South American dictator. Being a big action fan and child of the 1980s, this is like a dream come true. Stallone, Statham, Lundgren, Schwarzenegger, Willis, Jet Li, Steve Austin, Eric Roberts, Randy Couture and Terry Crews. Throw in the smoking’ Charisma Carpenter, and you’ve got a sure-fire hit that may very well resurrect the action genre.

Predators – A group of humans are transported to a world controlled by Predators and forced to take part in a hunt. Of course, they just so happen to be the prey. Robert Rodriguez is producing, and he’s said he considers this a direct sequel to the Schwarzenegger action classic. Adrien Brody heads up the cast of potential victims, and he’s joined by Danny Trejo, Walton Goggins, Topher Grace, Alice Braga and Laurence Fishburne. It’s also rumored that Arnie may make a cameo as Dutch, his character from the original film.

Jonah Hex – Josh Brolin stars in the adaptation of a comic book about a disfigured bounty hunter and Civil War veteran named Jonah Hex. As he hunts down a madman (John Malkovich, naturally) across the Old West, he’ll team up with his main squeeze, a dangerous prostitute with an excellent aim (Megan Fox). A number of supernatural elements will be included, and the film is said not to take itself too seriously. It remains to be seen if the latter will be a positive or a negative, but Megan Fox in a corset is a cinematic slam dunk.

Iron Man 2 – Robert Downey Jr. returns as Tony Stark/Iron Man, and this time around he’ll be taking on Sam Rockwell and Mickey Rourke. The trailer is one adrenaline-fueled moment after another, and Rourke looks menacing with his crazy electric whips. Terrence Howard gets replaced by Don Cheadle, and we’ll get to see the long-awaited team-up between Iron Man and War Machine. It’s glimpsed for a second in the trailer, and it looks all kinds of awesome. Here’s hoping they work in “Shoot to Thrill” somewhere in the film, as it works great in the preview.

Machete – Thanks to the insane casting, this is easily one of my 10 most anticipated movies of 2010. Danny Trejo plays the grizzled hero with a love for blades. Robert De Niro is a corrupt politician who tries to have our hero killed. Jessica Alba is a sexy federal agent. The rest of the cast includes Steven Seagal as a drug lord, Lindsay Lohan as a trigger-happy socialite, Cheech Marin as a priest, and Michelle Rodriguez as a lethal taco slinger (with really great teeth). Directed by Robert Rodriguez, expect this one to be in the same vein as Planet Terror.

Tron Legacy – The first of two Jeff Bridges’ films on my list, Tron Legacy is the sequel to the classic film from the 1980s. Bridges returns as Kevin Flynn, the hero of the previous film. He’s been living inside the world of Tron for many years, and his adult son goes inside to find him. Michael Sheen plays the villain, and Bruce Boxleitner reprises his role as the heroic Tron. Expect lots of light cycle action and disc throwing. The original was viewed as cheesy for many years, but all that’s about to change.

True Grit – The Coen Brothers take on the John Wayne classic, but this version is supposed to be more faithful to the Charles Portis novel. Jeff Bridges plays one-eyed, hard-drinking lawman Rooster Cogburn, and Josh Brolin co-stars (presumably in the Glen Campbell role). It comes out in December, completing a monster year for The Dude.

All the films listed above can be rented through Netflix. We get a small commission if you visit Netflix via our site and buy something, which helps us with those pesky day-to-day costs.

Jonah Hex

Good list.
I hadn’t heard about Machete and you’re right the casting sounds quite bonkers, might have to go see what teaser info I can find on that movie now!

Glad to be able to introduce you to Machete. The movie based on your life also sounds pretty exciting, Mr. Hex.
