2011 Golden Globe Winners
The 2011 Golden Globe winners were announced last night, and I’ve got a complete list of all the results in the movie category. I attempted to predict the winners beforehand, so you can click on this link if you’d like a laugh. Yes, my predictions were that off.
- Best Motion Picture (Drama) – The Social Network
- Best Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy) – The Kids Are All Right
- Best Actor (Drama) – Colin Firth for The King’s Speech
- Best Actress (Drama) – Natalie Portman for Black Swan
- Best Actor (Musical or Comedy) – Paul Giamatti for Barney’s Version
- Best Actress (Musical or Comedy) – Annette Bening for The Kids Are All Right
- Best Supporting Actor – Christian Bale for The Fighter
- Best Supporting Actress – Melissa Leo for The Fighter
- Best Director – David Fincher for The Social Network
- Best Screenplay – Aaron Sorkin for The Social Network
- Best Original Score – Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross for The Social Network
- Best Original Song – “You Haven’t Seen the Last of Me” from Burlesque
- Best Animated Feature Film – Toy Story 3
- Best Foreign Language Film – In a Better World (from Denmark)
So how did I do on my predictions? Awful. I tried to get cute on a few of them, making such predictions as Jesse Eisenberg beating out Colin Firth (even though I was confident that Firth would prevail at the Oscars). I put too much stock in my belief that the Golden Globes show is a slightly different animal, and I wound up paying for it. My overall record came down to 5 correct predictions and 9 incorrect ones. Hopefully, I’ll do a little bit better when it’s time to predict the 2011 Oscar winners.
