Ryan Sheckler Movies
Before we get to our list of Ryan Sheckler movies, let’s take a few moments to discuss this rising young phenomenon in the sports and entertainment industries. First and foremost, Ryan Sheckler is a pro skater, as evidenced by his inclusion in such video games as Tony Hawk’s American Wasteland and Tony Hawk’s Project 8. But he’s also a teen idol, charity founder, businessman, and star of MTV’s hit reality series, Life of Ryan–all by the age of 20.

Ryan was born December 30th, 1989 in La Palma, California. At 18 months, he was already rolling on a skateboard in the driveway, and he was able to perform ollies by his fourth birthday. Things really picked up at the age of seven, when he got a mini-ramp in the backyard and started practicing daily.
Before long, his mother was driving him all over the country so he could participate in various skateboarding competitions. From the U.S. Open of Skateboarding to the Globe World Cup, Ryan was opening eyes and turning heads with his freakish level of talent.
He turned pro at the age of 13, taking first place honors at the Slam City Jam, Vans Triple Crown Street competition, the Gravity Games, and the Street category of the Summer X Games. Ryan Sheckler had officially arrived.
With his growing fame came offers to appear on film and television, and Ryan soon found himself starring in his own reality show on MTV, Life of Ryan. It was an immediate hit, and it followed the misadventures of the Sheckler family for three seasons.
And his skating is still going strong. In 2010, he placed sixth in the street event of the Tampa Pro. That same year, he took first place at the X Games for street discipline. I don’t know what the hell that means, but it probably has something to do with gang warfare, which only verifies my suspicion that Ryan Sheckler is straight up gangster.

- MVP 2: Most Vertical Primate (2002) – An athletically-gifted chimpanzee and a homeless skater kid (Scott Goodman) team up to enter a skating competition and win a sponsorship deal. There’s also some chimp hockey, so everyone except for the ghost of Chuck Heston should be quite pleased.
- Grind (2003) – A group of amateur skaters look to break into the big time by impressing a professional skater on tour (Jason London). A number of real-life skaters make cameos, including Bon Burnquist, Bam Margera, Pierre Luc Gagnon, and Ryan Sheckler. While critical reviews were awful, Grind has slowly developed a cult following over the years.
- Dishdogz (2007) – Filmed at the Extreme Sports Camp in Lake Tahoe, this straight-to-DVD release revolves around Kevin (Marshall Allman), a young man who works in the kitchen at a summer camp while practicing his skating moves in his spare time. Haylie Duff plays the love interest, and Luke Perry is his grouchy boss. Pro skaters Ryan Sheckler, Andy MacDonald, and Tony Alva all make cameo appearances.
- Street Dreams (2009) – Paul Rodriguez Jr. stars as Derrick Cabrera, a young skater from Chicago who dreams of going pro. But if he’s going to do so, he’ll have to friends, family, and classmates, as they all think he’s wasting his time. Ryan Sheckler pops up in the role of “Eric.”
- Tooth Fairy (2010) – Sheckler plays minor league hockey player Mick Donnelly. His teammate, Derek Thompson (Dwayne Johnson), runs into trouble after stealing a dollar from under the pillow of his girlfriend’s (Ashley Judd) young daughter. The buck was left by a tooth fairy, and now Derek must spend two weeks performing the same duties. Also starring Stephen Merchant, Julie Andrews, and Billy Crystal. This film marked something of a departure for Sheckler, as he didn’t play himself or some other skateboarder.
